Topic Overview:
Glioblastoma brain cancer is one of the deadliest diseases and affects more than 20,000 people in the United States at any given time. There is no cure. Zinn will focus on improvement along the entire treatment paradigm and, specifically, shed light on induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cerebral organoids and the development of an inducible brain tumor model where both normal and transformed cancer cells are studied simultaneously to evaluate sensitivity and specificity of novel therapeutics, like oncolytic virus clones pretrained to infect and kill cancer cells. This research, thus, can lead to a novel, patient-tailored, bio-adaptable therapeutic approach to transform cancer therapy.
